Duties and Responsibilities

• • Establish and maintain a network of mortgage brokers funding loans through FundLoans
• • Managing all assigned Client accounts including educating clients in every aspect of the business relationship
• • Create/execute a marketing & business plan that will drive approved TPO clients
• • Facilitate broker submissions of loan packages
• • Communicate with brokers to ensure product knowledge, answer scenario questions, provide status updates
• • Manage pipeline and meet or exceed production goals

Qualifications

• • 1-3 years previous wholesale experience
• • Thorough understanding of lending guidelines and all facets of a real estate transaction
• • Understanding of all state, federal and agency regulatory requirements (TRID, RESPA, ECOA, TILA, HMDA)
• • Strong communication and organization skills

FundLoans Capital is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring timely and accurate accounting processes.

The ideal candidate will have accounting experience in a mortgage lending, mortgage banking, or financial services environment. Candidates with strong accounting experience and the ability to quickly learn the mortgage industry will also be considered.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for supporting a variety of accounting functions, including:

• • Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, including cash, loan-related accounts, accruals, and prepaid expenses
• • Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account flux analysis
• • Managing accounts payable activities, including invoice intake and processing, check preparation, ACH and wire creation, vendor follow-up, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of company obligations
• • Assisting with accounts receivable and credit card expense reporting, including identifying and communicating cash liquidity needs that may require moving funds
• • Partnering with Operations and Secondary Marketing teams to ensure accurate financial treatment of loan transactions, including researching borrower payments and resolving related discrepancies
• • Reconciling warehouse lines of credit and assisting with investor reporting support
• • Tracking and reconciling loan-level accounting activity, including fees, premiums, discounts, and servicing-related entries
• • Preparing financial reporting packages for management and the Controller
• • Supporting audits by preparing schedules and documentation
• • Ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and lending-specific accounting standards
• • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial data and system reporting
• • Managing the Accounting service inbox and workflow triage to ensure timely responses and proper routing of requests
• • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• • 2–5 years of accounting experience (mortgage lending or financial services strongly preferred)
• • Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• • Experience with mortgage lending systems (Encompass, LoanVision, or similar preferred); QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience preferred
• • Impeccable attention to detail
• • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Sheets, including advanced Excel capabilities such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• • Experience supporting audits and month-end close processes

Job Type: Full-time • Pay: $70,000–$90,000/year • Location: Hybrid remote, San Diego, CA 92130
